Abstract

The article explores the implementation of STEM education in the training of future optical engineers and vocational education teachers through the example of a functional 3D object modeling project in SolidWorks. The use of the SolidWorks software complex enables comprehensive modeling, strength analysis, and visualization of engineering objects. The presented STEM project is aimed at developing professional competencies by combining theoretical knowledge with practical design tasks. The project stages include the calculation of mechanical stresses and geometric parameters of a detail, followed by the construction of its 3D computer model. A step-by-step description is provided, starting from the creation of a basic sketch to the development of a complete three-dimensional model. As a practical example, the modeling of a functional detail for the curvilinear tightening of horizontal levers in a railcar brake cylinder is demonstrated. This approach highlights the role of interdisciplinary integration and digital technologies in forming the professional skills of future engineers and teachers of vocational education.
