Abstract
The tumultuous history of Bucovina has put its mark on the destiny of those born in this land of contrasts. An example in this sense is the life and activity of Dragos Vitencu, one of the exponents of the Romanian culture in Bukovina during the interwar period. Formed in Bucovina's intellectual environment in the first half of the 20th century, Dragos Vitencu is considered by friends "a model in all". The one who had been the leader of the student life in Chernivtsi would have to accept a new social order in which other principles functioned than those he had acquired in the interwar period of Chernivtsi. The nostalgia of these times is present in the novel Letters from God, which was edited only in 2012, 21 years after the death of the author.
