Radiation Medicine: A Textbook

Abstract

This instructional manual presents the core material for the course “Radiation Medicine” which will enable students to better prepare for practical lessons by focusing on the physical and radiobiological foundations of radiation medicine, the effects of radiation on the body, specific organs and systems, differentiated treatment and emergency care for acute radiation injuries, prevention of radiation injuries, and methods of rehabilitation for individuals who were affected by radiation accidents. The handbook is distinguished by its methodological approach to presenting the material and its alignment with the curriculum requirements for the course “Radiation Medicine” for students at higher medical educational institutions with Level III–IV accreditation (majors in general medicine, pediatrics, and medical psychology) under the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
