Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence into the educational process is one of the key directions of modern education development. Today, digital technologies actively influence the learning process, transforming traditional teaching methods and communication between students and teachers. This applies to the current crisis conditions, which have accelerated the digitalization of education, making distance learning and automated educational platforms an integral part of the educational system. The article describes the strategic documents that regulate the implementation of artificial intelligence in Ukraine, including the Concept for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in Ukraine (approved on December 2, 2020); the Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence in Ukraine (2023–2030); and the Roadmap for the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence in Ukraine (2023). The results of the All-Ukrainian Study on the Use of AI in School Education (September–October 2023) are analyzed; the challenges and risks of its application in the educational process are formulated. Two target groups were involved in the survey: teachers (1,747 people) teaching in general secondary education institutions and students (1,443 people) in grades 8–11. The key results of the study were the knowledge of artificial intelligence services, their use, and attitudes towards AI. It is stated that ChatGPT is the most well-known AI service among students and teachers, with students being more aware of it (76% versus 68%). The AI tool from the "Na Urok" project is also popular (49% of teachers, 35% of students). Most students and teachers have already used AI and are generally satisfied with this experience. Teachers' views on AI are mixed: they recognize its benefits but fear the negative impact on student development, increased plagiarism, and unethical use. Some teachers are still not sufficiently familiar with the technology and doubt its reliability. The problem of plagiarism is relevant, as some students use AI for this purpose. However, most students find it useful for learning and seek to learn more about the ethical use of AI from their teachers.
